What does it mean when Scripture tells us that the heart of man is desperately wicked and evil continually? (Genesis 6:5, Jeremiah 17:9) This simply means that an unconverted heart falls deeper and deeper into sin.

Why? It’s because the pleasure of sin only lasts for a season, or a period of time. In other words, it doesn’t take long before sin loses it’s luster…it loses it’s fun. And when this takes place, we have to do something more, or something different to find that same pleasurable feeling. This is why sin takes us to places we never thought we would find ourselves, and it causes us to do things, we never thought we would ever do.

There is only one thing that can stop this progression of sin in our lives, and that is to call upon the name of Jesus. If you will let Him into your life, here is His promise, “Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NLT)
