There are so many voices in this world, vying for our attention. And today, those voices have gotten louder and louder. From the political arena, to the educational arena, down to the religious arena, it seems like everyone is screaming at the top of their lungs. So how do we discern which voice to listen to?

First, we must understand that behind each voice is a spirit. What is that spirit? It is either the Spirit of Christ, or the spirit of Anti-Christ. Not only does each voice have behind it a spirit, but each spirit has an agenda. The Spirit of Christ’s agenda is to bring life, and that more abundantly. While the Spirit of Anti-Christ’s agenda is to steal, kill, and destroy. This simply means, that whatever voice you are listening to, is producing in you life or death. This is why Scripture tells us over and over again, “He that hath an ear, let them hear what the Spirit is saying.”

Second, we must look behind the voice and look at the fruit. Luke 6:44-45, “For every tree is known by his own fruit…A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.” Here is the bottom line, “Fruit never lies!”

My parent’s used to say, “Don’t believe anything you hear, and only half of what you see.” I didn’t understand that statement when I was young, but I do today. I want to end with a song I used to sing in Sunday School as a child…

Oh be careful little ears what you hear,
Oh be careful little ears what you hear,
For the Father up above, is looking down in love,
So be careful little ears what you hear.”
